Job Description:

Nursery Assistant – Permanent Position

Little Rays Nursery has an exciting opportunity for a Nursery Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team on a permanent basis.

This role is 30 hours per week, worked over 5 days, with a set working schedule of 12:00pm – 6:00pm.

As a Nursery Assistant, you will support the nursery team in providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children aged 2 months to 12 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the nursery team in the daily care, learning, and development of children

  • Create a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment while ensuring children’s health and safety at all times

  • Assist with planning and delivering age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and carers

  • Observe, record, and support children’s development

  • Adhere to nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection

  • Follow all health and safety guidelines

  • Undertake additional duties as required by the Nursery Manager

  • Manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • No formal qualifications required

  • Level 2 Childcare qualification preferred

  • Willingness to work towards a Level 3 Childcare qualification (support and training will be provided)

  • Previous experience working with children is desirable

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multitask and work as part of a team

  • A positive, enthusiastic, and caring approach

  • Patience, compassion, and a genuine passion for working with children

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare

  • Willingness to learn and undertake further training

Please note: Access NI clearance, a health declaration, and two references from previous employers are required.
